Savannah F - Swing

My favorite photo is the one with the swing. This picture was made at my neighborhood’s park. I edited it by changing the levels, and adding more contrast to the picture. I also used the color balance to add more colors to my picture. I used the patch tool to fix some scratches out of the swing, and to make the bolts holding it together more alike. It could’ve been better by the angle I took it from to fix the lighting and the background. I chose this picture as my best because I think it really catches my attention as something different. My overall experience was just having a good time. I never wanted to put the camera down even after I finished, and I felt like I wanted one in my hands at all times so I could capture an even better picture than before.

Morgan L - Brother Holding a Banana

My favorite picture I took was my brother holding the banana. I made this picture up against a red wall in my kitchen. I used levels to darken the background and put more light on his face. It also resulted in making his eyes a lot bluer then they actually are. I could have fixed his fly-away hairs to make the picture more neat. I chose this picture because it is different than most pictures other people took. Many people took pictures of buildings and nature. For me, I enjoy taking pictures of people and animals. Overall I enjoyed this assignment, except for the stress of finding 30 different objects/things that start with the letter B!

Sydney W - Shoes

My favorite picture would have to be the Shoes picture. I chose this picture because it has a lot of the elements of design, like a leading line and unity and variety. It one of the last pictures I took for this assignment and was kind of a difficult one. Originally, I had three more pairs in different colors, but it was hard to get all of the shoes in and still have a completely focused picture, so I only used three pairs. The edited version of the photo is a bit brighter and I removed some of the scuffs from the toe of the shoes.

Tommy K - Chest

My favorite picture that i took was the red chest. This picture turned out very bright and the colors were very defined which is exactly what i wanted it to be. The red colors are very bright and vibrant and i believe it to be the focal point of the picture. To edit this picture, i began by using the clone stamp to get rid of any scratches on the chest as well as any fur from my cats on the floor. i then cropped the image to the size i wanted. After that, i used the burn tool on the edges and top of chest to make the front stand out more. I did not want to adjust the color because i loved how much the red stood out and i didn’t want to change that. One thing i could’ve done better is to have used the rule of thirds, but i like that the chest takes up most of the picture instead of just being on 1/3 or 1/2 of the picture. For the most part, i enjoyed this project. Sometimes however, i was often frustrated due to a very old camera. I tried to make the most out of what i had. Overall I think my old camera actually made me a better photographer, and i cant wait for the next project!

Crystal M

I took a picture of my sister's three stuffed animals.  I adjusted the photo’s curves and
levels. Then, I made the background black and white and made the pink middle stuffed animal pop.  This is my favorite picture, because I like the pop of pink with the black and white background.

Madison P

I picked this picture because of the many different colors in the picture.  I originally chose to take this picture because it was an example of worms eye view and birds eye view. It is worms eye when you are looking at the sunset and birds eye when you are looking at the field. I edited this picture so you would have more than one color stand out to you instead of just one.

Gabby C

This picture is of a Ketchup package that I found on the grass. The first thing I did was crop and edit the picture as I would normally  do. Then, I duplicated the layer, and turned the duplicated layer to black and white. Next, I added a layer mask. I used the magnetic  lasso tool next, and selected the parts I wanted to keep in color. Once the item was selected I used the paintbrush tool to brush back in the color.

Taylor M - Hay baler

One of my favorite pictures was this one that i took at my Dad’s friend’s farm. I had to lay down on the ground to get the upward perspective of the wheels. I edited this picture by turning up the vibrancy a good bit. I liked the colors it exaggerated. I then used the dodge tool to lighten certain parts of the metal so that their colors were brighter.

Jake D

This is one of my favorite pictures  because it was so easy to take. I laid down beside the golf ball, and focused on it then took the picture.   Once in photoshop, I blurred the background slightly so the eye is more drawn to the golf ball.

Summer S - Sunset

My favorite picture is the sunset picture. When I took this picture, it was outside of the car window in the drive thru line for Zaxby’s. I cropped out some of the trees and clone stamped out the remaining trees that couldn’t be cropped out. I also changed the levels to make the sunset look brighter and the cloud to look darker. I could make this picture better by making light come out more from the cloud. I chose this picture as my best because I love to watch sunsets. I had a great experience with this project, it was easy and fun. I’ve always loved taking photos but i never knew it could be this fun.

Shane B - Sunset

The picture i choose as my best was the Sunset. I took this picture when i was at my lake watching the sunset from my boat. I didn’t do too much editing on this picture other then adjusting the levels and playing with the contrast a little, the only major change was removing the boat that got in the way. This picture could be better if i had taken it with a actual camera and not my phone. I choose this picture because after editing it turned out the best looking. during this assignment i had i lot of fun going around looking for stuff to fill in for 30 pictures, and had even more fun hiking around looking for my 5 best pictures. I like to hike on the weekends and while i hike i keep an eye out for little critters and bugs, because they fascinate me.

Marvin T - Landscape

This photo was taken somewhere in Mexico in my grandparents ranch. This was the first time i have been to my grandparents ranch and seeing the mountains, animals, and how green everything was caught my eye. I did not really edit anything on this photo except for the color balance, levels, and curves. The way see it to make it look better is to add more different types of color than green and a some wildlife. The reason I choose this as my best photograph is because It catches my attention on how beautiful the outdoors can be. Some other reason why I think it is great is because I am always indoors and seeing something new for my life was magnificent. This also changed my perspective on the world after seeing this I tend to go out more in the world to capture its beauty.

Rebekah C - Crossing

My favorite picture  is the one of the crossing at the railroad. I took the picture is Haleyville, Alabama on a railroad crossing. I took it on a hill and so it was angled toward the sky. I edited it by highlighting certain spots on the sign and adjusting the vibrances and contrast, I also adjusted the curves, and I brightened the picture and also made the sky more blue. I have chosen this picture as my best because I like the way it looks. It could be better by trying to do the rule of thirds better. My overall experience of this assignment was it was really fun. My interests in photography are that I would like to make photography my job and that is why I took this class.

Michael A - Chain

I took a picture of a chain holding up a hammock. This chain has rusted and very easily shows the texture of the chain. While on Photoshop I was able to change the curves and contrast so that the texture would be even more visible.

Bebe W

This photo was actually taken in my favorite place of all time, Ireland. I love this photo due
to how well the water movement is captured against the cliffs. To edit this photo I adjusted the different levels as well as hue and saturation slightly. By doing this I was able to really bring out the texture and colors of all scenery captured.

Olivia N - Leaves

This picture was taken at Lake Mitchell by laying on the ground and focusing the camera on the individual stem of leaves. I edited this picture by cropping out the excess background, using auto contrast, and auto color. This picture could have been better if I would have placed the stem on the rule of thirds line so that I wouldn’t of had to crop out the background. I chose this picture as my best because the warm colors make the picture pop. I really liked the assignment because I enjoyed photoshopping my original images to make them look more refined.

Kaleigh C - Ball

This is my favorite pic because it shows the rule of thirds, and i love how
the black and white brings it out more than color. I love how the curves
and high definition of the photo is spot on. In my views its a overall great

picture.

Rebecca L - Sunset

My favorite picture is the one of the sunset because of the bright, vibrant colors and natural beauty. I like how the trees have turned into a silhouette making the sky even more dramatic. I like how the cool blue color fades into the very warm orange color in the sky and then fades back to a light blue at the bottom. I was worried that the clouds would ruin the picture but they actually give it a lot more definition and character.

Sarah A - Shiny

My favorite picture was shiny. I gave it the title Shiny because it is very metallic and reflects in the flash. It was made in my bedroom on my dresser with the flash.I edited my picture by cropping it, adjusting the levels, color contrast, vibrance and some patchwork on the dark spots. I could have made it better by taking out some of the other dark areas around the bracelet. I think that is very unique and interesting. It is a close up angle that i wanted to try to see what the outcome would be. I had so much fun with this challenge. It made me think about how i should take my pictures from now on and to choose different angles each time and not the same ones. I want to be able to take pictures of animals in particular. I want to be a Marine Biologist /Zoologist and take pictures of animals in action.

Michaela G - Cat

My favorite photo was the sleeping cat. It was painted on a stone that I put in the red wood chips. I edited the cat by getting rid of the little spots and cloning the wood chips. I chose the cat because I thought it looked really color with the red background. My overall experience was wonderful, I really had a blast taking pictures of things that start with the letter C. At first it was hard because I couldn’t think of everyday things that start with a c like chair, crest toothpaste, etc.

Josh T - Rock

This image, created using the elements of art and based on the principles of art, is entitled The Rock. This picture was taken during the early morning in the outskirts of a neighboring subdivision. The form of the rock is what is most striking to me in this picture.

Merritt H - Sunglasses

I chose the sunglasses picture as my best picture.  I named it “sunglasses” because my letter was s and sunglasses start with the letter S.  I took this picture of my friend at the lake with my iPhone.  I edited this by enhancing the saturation and sharpness to make the sunglasses really pop.  This picture could be better if there weren’t as many distractions around the sunglasses like her baby hairs flying around and the lake in the background.  I chose this picture because I felt like it had an interesting view point.  You can see what my friend is looking at through the sunglasses and I thought that made it interesting. You can see what she is looking at through the lenses and since my letter was S, I felt it fit the criteria perfectly.  I really liked this assignment because I got to take pictures of things I wanted to.  I love taking pictures especially artsy ones.  My favorite thing to take pictures of though is people.  I like the natural look and not over editing things because I like raw emotion and showing what the picture how it really is.  Unless its an ugly picture and needs some help…but yeah!

Sara S - Softball

My favorite photo is a picture of a softball in a softball glove. I took this picture in my yard after me and my mom threw around the softball. I used the healing brush tool to edit some of the dirt off the softball. Then I adjusted the levels to make it darker because the picture was originally too bright. This picture didn’t take a lot of editing. It could have been better if it followed the rule of thirds but i didn’t want too much of the glove to be in the picture. I chose this as my best because I really love how the emphasis is on the softball and then the glove is the background. I also love the color contrast between the white of the softball and the brown of the glove. I loved this assignment. A lot of my pictures came out beautifully. I liked taking pictures from different perspectives and positions.

Mary-Katherine C - Bananas

I chose the Bananas picture as my favorite. I took this in the fruit section of Publix. This picture is my favorite because the yellow and green of the bananas are really fun and tie together with the sign in the back of the picture. I used the level tool, saturation, and exposure tool to really bring out the colors in this picture. I really enjoyed this project and feel as if it helped expand my knowledge in the basics of photography.

Jordan D - Bible

The title of this picture is the Bible. This picture was taken in my house and I used my camera to capture it. I edited this photo by saturating the highlighted part, as well as the pen markings. I then highlighted the paragraph of my favorite verses to make it have more emphasis. I think this photo could have been better if there was more color or variety to it. But on the other hand, I think that more colors would be distracting and overwhelming. I loved this assignment because it challenged me to actually use the elements of art to create a quality picture. I’ve loved photography ever since I was a little girl so taking pictures is always a good time for me.

Madeline E - Mademoiselle

I chose this Chanel Mademoiselle perfume. I took this picture at the Chanel makeup counter in Belk. I edited this picture by just using auto contrast and auto colors, and emphasizing the perfume bottle a little more than the background. I think it could be better if I were to angle it a little better and chosen a more solid background, and being a little more artistic with it. I chose it as my favorite because I really like the colors in it, and how much the pink stands out. This assignment was fun to do because it really made you think about what kinds of pictures to take, and what angles to shoot them, and not just the normal snap a picture and keep going on with your day. I think with the next photography assignment i will take a little more time into it, and try to get better pictures.

Preston R - Tackle Box

My favorite picture that I took for this assignment was the picture of the tackle box and fishing pole. It was taken at the lake behind my neighbor’s house, at around 7:00pm. I edited the picture by adjusting the levels, cropping the image, replacing the color of the tackle box with a brighter red, and removing a red tent that was in the background. This picture could have been better if it was taken on a clearer day, because the sky is slightly distracting in this picture. I think this is my best picture because I love how detailed the foreground of the picture is, but the background is out of focus. It doesn’t draw anything away from the subject of the picture. This was a fun assignment, and I learned how important lighting is in taking good pictures, as well as the point of view.

Leah M - Seashells

I believe that my best image is the photo of seashells. This was made at Gulf Shores with my nikon camera. I got down in the sand to get on the right level of the shells. I edited this by changing the color, contrast and tone of the image. Then I decreased the vibrance and increased saturation. Lastly, I sharpened the seashells and sand in the front with the sharpening tool. This image could be better by having a better depth of field while taking the picture. I have chosen this as my best because I feel I edited this picture the best and used the principles of design successfully. I had a fun experience taking these pictures for the project.

Jonah T - Clock

My favorite picture was the one of the clock. I took this picture in my piano room. I edited it by making the picture black and white and enhancing the vibrance to bring out the bronze in the clock face. The Picture could’ve been better if I had gotten the entire clock face. I chose this picture as my best because I think it has the best quality of all my pictures I took for this assignment. Overall I had fun with this assignment.

Lauren L - Butterfly

I chose my image, “Butterfly” as my best image because I feel it has a very clear emphasis with a subtly interesting background. To make this photo, I used a small shell to prop the butterfly up and set the focus on it. Then I adjusted the height of the camera to get the blurred American flag in the background. I edited this picture by cropping it centrally and adjusting the levels so that the colors were more vibrant and bright. This picture could be better if more of the banister was in focus. This assignment was very interesting and I discovered that I like taking pictures of objects up close with a blurred background best.

Matthew S - Flip flops

My favorite picture i took was of the flip flops. This picture was made on my front porch by setting the flip flops down on the stairs. I edited this picture by using the levels to brighten and contrast the picture. I also used the clone stamp to hid the leaves sitting on the step to make it all match. I think the picture could be better if i wouldn’t have taken it so close to the flip flops and made the background more visible. I chose it as my best because i just really like the way it turned out after editing. I really enjoyed this project because it was fun to explore all the different things that began with my letter.
